Smash the Guts Pickleball Event Day Volunteer (Toronto)

Volunteers play an integral role in delivering our promise of finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the lives of Canadians living with these chronic diseases. As a volunteer with Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, the impact of your efforts will be felt by the millions of Canadians affected by Crohn's or colitis today, and for years to come.   

We are seeking individuals passionate about making a difference in their community to join a team of dedicated volunteers in the role of Smash the Guts (Pickleball) Event Day Volunteer.  

This role involves in-person interactions. 

All volunteer positions at Crohn’s and Colitis Canada require a conversation to discuss the role and your goals for volunteering. 

Are you the right fit for the team?  

As the Smash the Guts Event Day Volunteer, you will assist in event day tasks for our Pickleball Mixer to engage new constituents and fundraise for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, including:  

  • Adhering to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct 
  • Support event setup, takedown, and facilitation of event-day activities. These include, but are not limited to: managing the tournament structure and scoring, assisting with player sign-in, and overseeing gameplay. Volunteer roles will be assigned based on interest and experience.  
  • Providing excellent customer service to event attendees 
  • Assisting with volunteer breaks by acting as a floater to cover roles as needed during shifts.  


Location: Fairgrounds Cloverdale, 250 The East Mall, Unit 190, Toronto, ON, M9B 6J6

Time Commitment:  

  • Saturday, March 1, 2025, 8 A.M. – 1 P.M. or 1 P.M. – 6P.M. (the time of shifts are flexible based on the volunteer's schedule), with 30-minute breaks provided.  
  • Virtual 1-hour volunteer orientation- to be scheduled in collaboration with volunteers   

What you bring: 

  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • A friendly, personable, and professional demeanour 
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time in outdoor conditions and to safely lift up to 50lbs  
  • Organization skills with high attention to detail 
  • An understanding of Pickleball and basic gameplay rules is a bonus
