Why was GUTS changed to Volunteer Learning and Development?
GUTS was rebranded to the Volunteer Learning and Development Program to better focus on enhancing volunteer skills, knowledge, and engagement through targeted learning opportunities. This change emphasizes the importance of ongoing education and support for volunteers.
Who can attend Learning and Development?
The Learning and Development program is open to all volunteers within Crohn's and Colitis Canada. Whether you're new or experienced, these sessions are designed to benefit volunteers at all levels.
What does it mean that Learning and Development is virtual this year?
This year, the Learning and Development program will be held online, allowing volunteers to participate from the comfort of their own homes, regardless of location. The virtual format also makes it easier to access resources and engage in the sessions.
Will I have the opportunity to meet other volunteers during Learning and Development?
Yes, there will be structured networking opportunities during the sessions, allowing you to connect with fellow volunteers, share experiences, and build relationships.
I’m shy. Will I be put on the spot to talk publicly at any time?
No, you will not be forced to speak publicly. Participation is encouraged but entirely voluntary, so you can engage at your own comfort level.
I really want to attend Learning and Development, but I have a commitment during that time. Can I attend part of the event? Will Learning and Development events be recorded this year?
You can attend part of an event if necessary, and the sessions may be recorded to allow you to catch up on any content you miss. Recordings will provide flexibility in accessing the material.
Will Learning and Development be bilingual this year?
We are offering the Fireside Chat on September 25th with simultaneous translation.
Will there be an opportunity to offer feedback on the events?
Yes, we value your input and will provide opportunities for you to offer feedback after the events. Your feedback helps us improve future sessions.
I have an accessibility need for Learning and Development. What can I do?
Please reach out to us ahead of time with your specific needs, and we will work to provide the necessary accommodations to ensure you can fully participate in the sessions.
Why should I attend Learning and Development?
Attending Learning and Development will give you the chance to enhance your knowledge, develop new skills, and connect with other volunteers. It's also an opportunity to learn more about the Crohn's and Colitis Canada and how you can make a greater impact.
Does Learning and Development happen every year?
Yes, moving forward, the Learning and Development program sessions will be held multiple times a year. These events aim to support and engage volunteers by offering ongoing education, skill-building, and networking opportunities.
