Smash the Guts Pickleball Event Day Volunteer (Barrie)

Volunteers play an integral role in delivering our promise of finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the lives of Canadians living with these chronic diseases. As a volunteer with Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, the impact of your efforts will be felt by the millions of Canadians affected by Crohn's or colitis today, and for years to come.  

We are seeking individuals passionate about making a difference in their community to join a team of dedicated volunteers in the role of of Smash the Guts (Pickleball) Event Day Volunteer. 

This role involves in-person interactions.  

All volunteer positions at Crohn’s and Colitis Canada require a conversation to discuss the role and your goals for volunteering. 

Are you the right fit for the team?

As the Smash the Guts Event Day Volunteer, you will assist in event day tasks for our inaugural Pickleball Mixer to engage new constituents and fundraise for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, including:  

  • Adhering to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct. 
  • Assisting in the event setup, takedown, and facilitation of various event day activities such as managing the tournament structure, assisting with player sign-in, overseeing gameplay, and timekeeping. 
  • Providing excellent customer service to event attendees. 
  • Registration support, provide swag bags, and event day information to players. 
  • Oversee break area, greet players, and ensure the area remains clean. 
  • Assisting with volunteer breaks by acting as a floater to cover roles as needed during shifts.  

Location: 

East Bayfield Community Centre, 80 Livingstone St. E., Barrie, ON, L4M 6X9

Time Commitment:  

  • Virtual 1-hour volunteer orientation to be scheduled in collaboration with volunteers. 
  • Saturday, March 1, 2025, 7:30 A.M. – 5: 30 P.M. (shifts available if needed). 
Morning Shift: 7:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. 
Afternoon Shift: 12:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M.  ​
Volunteers are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts if desired. 

What you bring: 

  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • A friendly, personable, and professional demeanor. 
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time in outdoor conditions and to safely lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Organizational skills with high attention to detail. 
  • An understanding of Pickleball and basic gameplay rules is a bonus.

Note: To ensure a positive volunteer experience, we will incorporate shifts and regular breaks for all volunteers. Volunteers participating for the full day will have dedicated break periods, and a floater will provide coverage during breaks.
