Dr. Paul Moayyedi​ (MD, MPH, FRCPC)
Director of the Division of Gastroenterology from 2006 - 2017, School of Medicine, McMaster University, Principal Investigator of the IMAGINE SPOR Network

Dr. Paul Moayyedi, MD, MPH, FRCPC, is a Professor of Medicine and a leading gastroenterologist at McMaster University. He served as Director of the Division of Gastroenterology from 2006 to 2017 and has made significant contributions to the advancement of digestive health research in Canada. Dr. Moayyedi is also the Principal Investigator of the IMAGINE SPOR Network, a national research initiative focused on exploring the interactions between the gut microbiome, diet, inflammation, and mental health in individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

A world-renowned expert in gastroenterology, Dr. Moayyedi has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is recognized for his clinical expertise and leadership in patient-oriented research. Under his guidance, the IMAGINE Network brings together scientists, clinicians, and patients from across Canada to investigate new diagnostic tools and therapies for IBD and IBS, including the use of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) and other microbiome-targeted strategies.

Aida Fernandes, BSc, MBA, is the Executive Director of the IMAGINE Network. With a strong background in science and business administration, Aida plays a critical role in overseeing the network’s operations and ensuring the successful coordination of multidisciplinary research projects. Her leadership supports IMAGINE’s mission to improve outcomes and quality of life for people living with IBD and IBS through innovative, patient-centered research.
