Research Milestones

Dr. Ellen Kuenzig and colleagues have conducted a study on the relationship between asthma and Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. By conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis, they found there is in fact an association between asthma and Crohn’s and colitis. Their findings indicate more research must be done to determine if one disease increases the risk of the other, or if both arise due to shared risk factors.

Dr. Ellen Kuenzig is the recipient of a fellowship offered jointly by Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Dr. Kuenzig is also a recipient of a Crohn’s and Colitis Canada AbbVie IBD Scholarship.
