Can a Mediterranean Diet Reduce Colitis?
Dec 6, 2018
Patients and caregivers are eager for information on how diet impacts IBD. Because everyone is different (different tolerances, likes and dislikes, locations for their disease in the GI tract), there is not a special diet for those living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
While few research studies found a single dietary factor as being protective or harmful for IBD, Dr. Deanna Gibson uncovered specific types of fats might be at play. Thanks to a research grant from Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, Dr. Gibson is studying how the Mediterranean diet may be effective for people with colitis.
