We Thank and Applaud Our Volunteers

We Applaud Our Volunteers
National Volunteer Week is here again and this year’s theme is “we applaud our volunteers”. At Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do — and accomplish. Thank you so much for standing by our side as we try to understand more about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, their challenges, and what we can do to overcome them.

A message to our volunteers:

Please know that each member of our Crohn’s and Colitis Canada family applauds you and the work you do across the country in facilitating community engagement and education while raising funds and supporting people living with Crohn’s or colitis in your community.

In 2019 alone, Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s volunteers led 46 chapters across the country and raised over $5.3 million through special events for life-changing research. As a group, you organized over 60 Gutsy Walks across the country and on walk day, 1,200 of you were there to ensure these events were successful year after year. In total, our Gutsy Walks have raised over $45 million in 25 years…and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Along with leading fundraising initiatives that drove our investments in research, we also saw you showing up to support our initiatives and raise awareness for programs like Camp Got2Go and the AbbVie IBD Scholarship. By generously donating your time and talents, you make a positive, long-lasting and immeasurable impact on the lives of patients and caregivers, and for that and many other things, we are forever grateful.

As a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization, we credit our strong, supportive and resilient community—one that comes together to celebrate our milestones or to tackle any challenges—to you.

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is “we applaud our volunteers”, but to us at Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, our volunteers deserve a standing ovation

Thank you for all of the work you do. On behalf of everyone affected by Crohn’s or colitis, we admire your dedication and commitment recognizing that we would not have come this far without caring and generous volunteers such as yourself.

Sincerely,

Mina Mawani
