Meet Your Gutsy Walk 2022 National Honorary Co-Chairs, Claire & Mya!

This year, we are excited to announce that we will be highlighting the stories of two inspiring young women as our National Honorary Co-Chairs for this year’s Gutsy Walk in Claire Moore from Ayton, Ontario and Mya Bourget from Montreal, Quebec!

Claire and Mya may have different forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but they have the same goal…putting an end to IBD and finding the cures. These two embody the strong, positive attitude one needs when living with IBD and give the community hope when challenges arise with these diseases. Both girls are returning Gutsy Walk participants and are looking forward to leading the charge this year!

Between Claire’s IBD undetermined symptoms and the medication she’s on, she sometimes finds it tough being a normal kid. She is constantly tired and following a strict schedule as to not overdo herself the following day—and she also has to worry about her next flare.

But like a true IBD Warrior, Claire manages to find time to enjoy life and do the things she loves. Whether it’s playing with her sister, jazz dance or horseback riding, Claire is an inspiration to the community in letting us know that you can still enjoy life with IBD.

Mya was first diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2017 after a devasting bout with a variety of symptoms. Everything from heartache to severe anemia, Mya was experiencing it. Even with some symptoms causing her issues, Mya continues to live the best life possible – she is an amazing dancer and plays THREE instruments! When she isn’t practicing her talents, she is studying anatomy and trying to figure out this confusing disease, with the hopes of one day becoming a doctor.

Claire and Mya are natural leaders and the way they handle their respective diseases provides an outstanding amount of inspiration and hope for the rest of the community. We are beyond excited to have them join us this year as our National Honorary Chairs for the 27th annual Gutsy Walk, happening this year on Sunday, June 5.
