Finkelstein Award
Do you know someone whose contributions to the Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis community deserve recognition? The Finkelstein Award honours an individual whose dedication and impact reflect true excellence—whether through a significant achievement or a lifetime of efforts.
Established by the Finkelstein family, co-founders of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, this award is a heartfelt tribute—a “hug” for a deserving individual who may not have been publicly recognized for their contributions. Nominees do not need to have held a formal role within the organization, but must have made a meaningful difference in advancing our Promise.

Congratulations to our 2025 award winner, Emma Hicks!
Emma has made an incredible impact since taking over the Amherst Gutsy Walk in 2021. She has organized fundraisers, rallied volunteers, raised over $40,000, and honored her sister-in-law Jessica’s legacy, all while attending school full-time.
As Emma says, “Even though I am the one winning this award, I would also like to recognize all those in Amherst who help us continue this fundraiser each year. This is all for you Jessica”.
