Crohn’s and Colitis Canada Welcomes Josh Berman as New President and CEO

Toronto, ON – August 22, 2025 — The Board of Directors of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Berman as the organization’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 8, 2025.  

With over 15 years of experience in health research, advocacy, and non-profit leadership, Josh brings a deep and dynamic track record of impact to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. A passionate champion for improved care and outcomes, he has led teams whose work has directly shaped policy and practice. His work translating complex health evidence into accessible, actionable tools has empowered clinicians, patients, and decision-makers alike.  

“Josh’s combination of health research insight, advocacy leadership, and lived experience makes him uniquely suited to guide Crohn’s and Colitis Canada into its next chapter,” said Sonu Dhanju-Dhillon, Chair of the Board. “His unwavering commitment to equity and his proven ability to build strong partnerships will be instrumental in advancing our mission.”  

Josh has led successful public policy campaigns to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families, and has worked closely with governments and donors to secure critical funding for health initiatives. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Malvern Family Resource Centre, a trusted and vital community hub in Scarborough, Ontario.  

This mission is also personal. Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis three years ago, Josh brings lived experience to his leadership, offering insight into the very real challenges faced by individuals and families affected by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).  

“I’m honoured to join Crohn’s and Colitis Canada and work alongside an incredible community of researchers, clinicians, volunteers, donors and employees,” said Josh. “Together, we’ll accelerate progress toward new treatments, cures, and above all, better lives for everyone impacted.”  

Crohn’s and Colitis Canada remains steadfast in its promise to find the cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and to improve the quality of life of everyone affected by these diseases, and under Josh’s leadership, will continue to grow its impact through research, advocacy, patient programs and awareness.
