Role impact
The Media and Content Marketing Specialist will play a key role in advancing our mission through compelling storytelling and strategic content creation. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing media and content marketing strategies that enhance brand visibility and engagement to inspire action, raise awareness, and amplify our impact. This position combines creative storytelling with data-driven insights to ensure content resonates with diverse audiences and supports mission and fundraising and goals.
This is a part-time, 4-days a week, contract role ending in December 2026.
Salary range is $30-$35/hr.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education, preferably in marketing/communications, journalism or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience with a focus on storytelling, media planning and relations; content marketing, preferably for a health charity.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Experience interviewing people with highly sensitive health conditions an asset.
- Proficiency in media monitoring and other analytic tools (Google Analytics, social media insights, etc.).
- Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) principles.
- Ability to interview people with a high degree of empathy.
- Ability to create compelling copy for diverse audiences, both internal and external, with fresh perspective, and outstanding craft.
- Highly organized, detail oriented with strong analytical and interpretive skills; able to work independently.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

Responsibilities
Media Planning, Relations and Execution:
- Plan and manage paid and earned traditional media strategies to maximize reach and ROI.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets to secure coverage.
- Draft press releases, media kits, and coordinate interviews to promote events and campaigns.
Content Creation & Strategy
- Develop and execute a content marketing strategy and calendar aligned with organizational goals.
- Interview patients, caregivers, donors, and members of the research and medical community.
- Write, edit, and publish engaging content for newsletters, social media, and website.
- Ensure content adheres to brand voice, tone, and style guidelines.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze content and media performance to inform strategy adjustments and to provide insights to improve outreach and engagement.
- Prepare reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.
