Gutsy Walk Prizing Captain - London

Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases.  

This role involves in-person interactions. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Adhere to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct  
  • Work closely with your staff partner and Gutsy Walk Chair to identify local prizing needs 
  • Plan, solicit and coordinate prizing for Gutsy Walk day  
  • Identify past and new local businesses for prize solicitation and complete outreach using templates provided by your staff partner 
  • Coordinate with other committee members to identify opportunities for contests, top fundraisers, and additional fundraising through a silent auction  
  • Track prize request and outcome details, and communicate this information with your staff partner 
  • Coordinate delivery or pick-up of prizes 
  • Thank prize donors using templates provided by your staff partner 
  • Act as a role model by registering for Gutsy Walk and supporting fundraising, directly or indirectly (by sharing new ideas and leads, doing your own fundraising, promoting the event amongst your network) 
  • Be an active participant in all Committee meetings 

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 4-8 hours a month including committee meetings taking place monthly until June, with additional meetings leading up to event day and a post-event wrap up meeting 
  • Some evening and weekend activity is required for prize donation contact and follow up 
  • ​Some daytime availability is ideal for making phone calls and responding to emails 

What you bring:

  • Comfortable with soliciting prizes from local businesses, interacting with the public, adapting to change, and problem-solving 
  • Outgoing, friendly manner with a focus on relationship building and follow-through 
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to documenting prizing solicitation outcomes 
  • Experience with seeking prize donations is an asset but not required
