Gutsy Walk Entertainment & Activities Captain - London

Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases.  

This role involves in-person interactions. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Adhere to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct  
  • Organize stage entertainment and activities at the Walk 
  • Determine and secure entertainment that makes the event fun within the budget available (e.g. mascots, bands, games) 
  • Work closely with staff partner and other committee members to ensure all insurance and equipment requirements are considered and in place based on need (e.g. sound system, generators) 
  • Develop and lead execution of an event day schedule for performances and activities  
  • Collaborate with Logistics Captain to develop and lead execution of an event day schedule for the entertainment and activities logistics including set up, pick-up and delivery 
  • Ensure training and support for all entertainment and activities volunteers partnership with the Volunteer Captain 
  • Act as a role model by registering for Gutsy Walk and supporting fundraising, directly or indirectly (by sharing new ideas and leads, doing your own fundraising, promoting the event amongst your network 
  • Be an active participant in all Committee meetings 

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 4-8 hours a month including monthly committee meetings, with additional meetings leading up to the event day and a post-event wrap-up meeting 
  • Some evening and weekend activity is required for vendor contact, on-site arrangements, and volunteer training  
  • Some daytime availability is ideal for making phone calls and responding to emails 

What you bring:

  • Experience and interest in planning entertainment and activities, ideally at large fundraising events 
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to collaboration 
  • Outgoing, friendly manner with a focus on relationship building and follow-through 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience with seeking prize donations, helpful but not a requirement
