Join Dr. Seth Shaffer, gastroenterologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, for an informative session on the key diagnostic tests used in identifying and managing IBD.  

Dr. Shaffer will walk through what to expect during common procedures like bloodwork, stool tests, endoscopy, and imaging, and explain how to understand your results in clear, simple terms. He’ll also offer practical advice on how to talk to your healthcare team so you can feel confident discussing your diagnosis and treatment options.

Dr. Seth Shaffer

Dr. Seth Shaffer
Gastroenterologist and Assistant Professor, Medicine
University of Manitoba

Dr. Seth Shaffer completed medical school at the University of Manitoba. He then went to Queen’s University for his Internal Medicine and returned to Winnipeg to specialize in gastroenterology. He then completed a fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the University of Chicago, while also obtaining a Master’s in Public Health Sciences, with an interest in health economics. 

Dr. Shaffer then returned to the University of Manitoba in 2020 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and is currently practicing as a gastroenterologist at the Health Sciences Center. He is also a member of the University of Manitoba IBD Clinical and Research Centre. His research focuses on understanding the causes and clinical management of persons with IBD, and the economic impact of caring for patients with IBD. 
 
This event will be offered in English, with live simultaneous interpretation in French.
