Is There an Association Between Asthma and IBD?

Dr. Ellen Kuenzig and colleagues conducted a study on the relationship between asthma and Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. By conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis, they found there is in fact an association between asthma and Crohn’s and colitis. Their findings indicate more research must be done to determine if one disease increases the risk of the other, or if both arise due to shared risk factors.
